Years ago a good friend from the Boston area gave us a Shallot oil lamp that lives mostly on our kitchen table, but does extra duty to light the table for cocktail or dinner outdoor. We light it almost every night, particularly in the winter, and after so much use it still looks and performs as new. Danforth quality and craftsmanship is outstanding.
We have 2 of these Bay Oil Lamps for our dining room table, make a nice change from the usual candles when we have guests. And during a Florida hurricane they can double as emergency lighting, along with our LED lanterns. Unfortunately we cannot have a standby generator, as some of our friends do. During a hurricane power outage you need all the light sources you can get. We also have the matching Cape lamp for our coffee table, likewise a novel alternative to candles that our friends enjoy. Additionally, the lamp oil you market is odorless & smokeless, unlike the kerosene oil we used when I was a kid in the 1950s for our older "hurricane" lamps as we called them, because that's the only time we'd use them. Because unlike these lamps, not something particularly suitable for a dinner setting. But your pewter is very elegant, their style goes well with our other tableware, and the size is perfect for the purpose, they don't overpower the table. We have already recommended them to others.
Purchased this for Mother's Day and my wife was quite pleased. It is beautifully crafted and looks great on our mantel. Purchased the oil but will probably never light it as my wife is now very protective of her "wonderful, hand crafted lamp".

We bought the Bay Oil Lamp (7" globe) as well another lamp from the unique Signature Series (medium faceted OOAK oil lamp, 7" globe) while visiting Portland. They are home now in SC and look fabulous on our enclosed porch. We can't wait to have friends over and share these beautiful works of art with them!
