The coastal scene on the base of this candlestick is rendered in such clear detail--I have a pair on my dining table that echo the scene through the window. Because they're made by hand, the enamel color varies from one to another, ranging from marine blue to a gunmetal gray, so if you're ordering online and prefer a brighter color, request that they send one that's more blue.
These new candlesticks are really beautiful. The scene is so finely detailed and looks just like what's outside my dining room windows in Maine, just beyond the candlesticks on the table. My only complaint is that the shade of the enamel finish on them really varies from one candlestick to another, and the first set that arrived in the mail were really a pale gray, not the marine blue I'd seen in the catalogue. Each candlestick is made by hand so they vary slightly, but the color difference on these was quite pronounced. Luckily, I was able to exchange them in person at the Portland store for a blue pair. If you order them online, be sure to stipulate that you prefer them to be blue.
The candlesticks are really pretty in our living room. We have a grey and blue theme in the room and they were made for our mantle. The blue color and the grey metal match the room and the size of the base is perfect for our mantle, which is fairly narrow.
The blend of pewter and the blue is beautiful and looks terrific in my coastal home. Hope to see more pieces offered.
