"It was after the popular Angel ornament (1987) when I realized that customers were interested in 'the next ornament' and that it would be a good idea to feature one new design as an Annual. I planned to design one in particular that I thought would endure and embody holiday traditions.
In 1988, while our new workshop was being built in Middlebury, I only had time to make one new ornament so I decided it would be Father Christmas with his satchel filled to the brim with toys. If I could only do one, I wanted it to be full of goodness. It was very popular and we were off on the Annual quest!"—Judi Danforth, Founder
