For many people, the Twelve Days of Christmas is a meaningful tradition that goes far beyond the carol. In Christian theology, the 12 days mark the time between Christ's birth and the coming of the Three Wisemen to visit Him. The song itself is believed to date back to 18th century France, although the tune we sing today most likely originated with the English composer Frederic Austin, who codified the lyrics and added the now well-known flourish during "five go-old rings."
The fifth in our popular Twelve Days of Christmas Ornament Set, the Five Gold Rings Ornament contains exquisite detail inside its pleasingly symmetrical diamond shape. The center of the ornament pivots on its axis (as do the other 11 in the set). Each ornament is two-sided, so you can see each image from any angle.
