The base of this oil lamp is handspun on a lathe using the finest lead-free pewter, which is then fitted with a fine quality burner and stiletto hand-blown glass globe, all in our Middlebury, Vermont workshop. Our oil lamps add the perfect ambience to any room, indoors or outdoors. Great as a centerpiece for the dining room table or on a living room end table. It makes a treasured holiday tradition for many, creating a beautifully reflective and meditative atmosphere on cold winter nights.

I received the lamp last night, delivered by Canada Post. As always it is beautifully made and will be a lovely "Welcome to your new home" gift for my son, his wife, and family. I am thrilled with my purchase.
The lamp looks better in person than on line - very nice sitting on the piano. We now have ten or so 'burn hours' with very little odor and no soot in the chimney. Very happy with the purchase.
I've owned an onion lamp for over 15 years. It still looks almost like new. The clean lines will work in many design settings. Useful for when the lights go out (storms, etc - much better than a candle), great for ambiance and outside on the porch in the evening. It's a winner through and through. Looking at the shallot. :-)
Danforth lamps caught my attention as I passed by their Burlington, Vermont store the other day. I had a hard time selecting the design that pleased me the most. I chose the clean lines of the "Onion". I've long held a fascination with candles and open flames for mood. The Onion is a safer (and brighter) way of achieving that calming mood. I'm beginning to use it as an adjunct to my practice of meditation. Love it!

The lamp is as nice in person as it appears online. The chimney is very narrow, which is stylish but reduces the amount of light the lamp throws.
